THE PERFECT SHIRT FOR ALL MY BORICUAS OUT THERE 🇵🇷 !!!

Just in time for Puerto Rican Parade and Festival!!

What’s featured on the t-shirt?
Starting from the top left we have my version of a Vejiante Mask, which are culturally significant. They are vibrant, horned and fanged masks representing “demons” like in Puerto Rican folklore, more commonly used during carnivals. They symbolize the battle between good and evil while embodying cultural identity, resistance and joy.
To the right of the mask, there is a Taíno Sun Symbol, often referred to as El Sol de Jayuya or Guey. It is an ancient petroglyph representing the sun deity, creation and life-giving energy. This symbol embodies strength, longevity and health.
Next we have a Greca which is a stove top espresso maker, they are definitely a staple in Puerto Rican kitchens!
Of course I had to include Dominos - CAPICú! And the numbers I decided to go with are intentional. If you’re familiar Puerto Rico’s area code is 787, so I kind of wanted to include that in some way.
We can’t forget the lovable Coquí, a small tree frog most known for their loud “ko-KEE.” They are like Puerto Rico’s personal Pokémon.
Under that we have a bottle of Coquito! A traditional drink mostly served around Thanksgiving - Three Kings Day. It is a creamy coconut-based alcoholic beverage and often referred to as “Puerto Rican Egg-nog” but let me tell you egg nog ain’t got nothing on Coquito ok!
The instruments I’ve included are some (not all) of the most notable. Cuatro (ten string national instrument) 🪇 Maracas , and Pandero (hand drum) 🪘 which are essential for traditional genres like Plena, Bomba and Parranda.
Just under the instruments are some of my favorites, Arroz con Gandules (rice with pigeon peas) and Pastele (savory root vegetable, masa filled with stewed meat wrapped in banana leaves and boiled. And the National flower!🌺
